 Missblingbaby was founded in November 2006, and is the creation of Big Brother star and UK television personality Kemal Shahin. The idea behind opening the store was to create one online place where people from all walks of life could come to purchase funky, fashionable and reasonably priced accessories. Kemal says...I think missblingbaby.com is an important move towards showing people that they needn't spend ridiculous amount of money and hours trawling through high street stores to pick up a pair of earrings to match an outfit. Now they can just come to missblingbaby.com, and without even having to leave their chair, find that perfect accessory.'
Missblingbaby.com recognises that many high street stores ridiculously overprice their accessories, while others offer a small range lacking in diversity. Missblingbaby.com is also about promoting the importance of accessorising an outfit. Kemal says...
'Many people underestimate the power of accessories, from earrings to bangles, brooches to rings. Earrings can really frame the face, and are ideal to frame the face. If your feeling low, or running out of time when getting ready by just putting on a pair of cute earrings, or a nice necklace, a simple pair of skinny jeans and a T-shirt can come alive. People also often try to match accessories to an outfit, but I say there is nothing wrong seeing an accessory you love, and building your outfit around that. Fashion is about having an inspiration, and then building on it to create a look, not making things just look pretty and matching.' In creating missblingbaby.com Kemal was adamant to shoot the accessories on models, as well as just the accessory alone. More often than not, a customer finds internet shopping limited, and unable to imagine an outfit on themselves. Kemal therefore specifically chosen models from all ethnic backgrounds and looks of diversity, and tried to give the customer as much of an idea of what that accessory will look like on themselves, through the use of many shots, and varying models.
Kemal oversees all accessories, through the elements of design, modification and manufacture and Kemal works with a close team of designers and fashion buyers to ensure that the accessories are both cutting edge in fashion and appealing.
Kemal says...
'the first question I ask myself when looking at a design is would I wear it? If the answer it's no, the idea is scrapped. I have to be in love with every single item in the store. Not only that. I have one of everything myself, and have worn everything at least once to make sure I am 100% happy.
